MISS LAURA

R.E.C.E / PROGRAM SUPERVISOR

"I graduated from the Early Childhood Education program at Georgian College with honours in 1993. I spent several years post graduation at a local Montessori School, working with preschool aged and kindergarten children. While taking several years away from the field to raise my own children, I remained current professionally by volunteering my time in early childhood related areas such as: helping to organize a local playgroup, being on a steering committee for a Mothers of Preschoolers group at my church, teaching Sunday School, and volunteering at my children’s school. In the past I have also worked in summer camps, children’s library programs, a youth group, and day care. I joined the teaching staff at Building Blocks in the fall of 2016. Having lived in Midhurst all my life, it feels good to be part of the community by working in a preschool that has serviced our village for over 40 years. I truly believe that an important part of making early childhood education successful is building strong relationships with the students and their families. A good foundation of relationship is essential for us to support one another in growing and nurturing the little ones in our care."

MISS SHEILA

R.E.C.E

"I began working at BBNS in the fall of 2018, after a period of time teaching in Elmvale. My first child care position was in 1993 at Trent Child Care in Peterborough. After 13 years teaching in Peterborough my husband and I chose to move our family to Springwater, where I stayed at home to raise our three children while volunteering as director at the local Sunday school.  I have acquired so much experience and appreciation for children through raising my son and two daughters. I believe children are curious, unique, and competent. I look forward to getting to know our students and their families as they come to be a part of the Building Blocks community."
