OUR EDUCATORS

MISS LAURA
R.E.C.E / PROGRAM SUPERVISOR

"I graduated with honours from the Early Childhood Education program at Georgian College in 1993. After graduation, I worked for several years at a local Montessori School with preschool and kindergarten children. While taking time away from the field to raise my own children, I remained current by volunteering in early childhood settings, including organizing a local playgroup, serving on a steering committee for a Mothers of Preschoolers group at my church, teaching Sunday School, and volunteering at my children’s school. I have also worked in summer camps, children’s library programs, a youth group, and daycare. I joined the teaching staff at Building Blocks in the fall of 2016. Having lived in Midhurst all my life, it feels good to be part of the community by working in a preschool that has served our village for over 40 years. I truly believe that building strong relationships with students and their families is essential for successful early childhood education and for supporting one another in nurturing the little ones in our care."

MISS SHEILA
R.E.C.E

"I began working at BBNS in the fall of 2018, after a period of time teaching in Elmvale. My first child care position was in 1993 at Trent Child Care in Peterborough. After 13 years teaching in Peterborough my husband and I chose to move our family to Springwater, where I stayed at home to raise our three children while volunteering as director at the local Sunday school. I have acquired so much experience and appreciation for children through raising my son and two daughters. I believe children are curious, unique, and competent. I look forward to getting to know our students and their families as they come to be a part of the Building Blocks community."

MISS DANIELLE
EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHING ASSISTANT

“I grew up around a community centre that my Mom managed, and once I was old enough, I became actively involved in programs for a variety of age groups. That’s when I discovered my passion for working with young children. I went on to study Community Service Work, and afterward, I worked in a retirement home. I then returned to working with young children and helped launch a childcare program with my previous employer. I worked there for 3.5 years. After taking time off to raise my two boys, I returned to the workforce in 2022 at Building Blocks, where I’ve loved being ever since”.
